Khufiya Movie Plot
In the aftermath of the Kargil War, Heena Rehman, believed to be a Bangladeshi ISI agent, is killed by Bangladeshi Defense Minister Mirza at his house. In India, Krishna Mehra (Tabu), an operative in the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW), learns of Heena’s death, and she’s devastated because Heena used to be her lover and was actually working for R&AW, attempting to assassinate Mirza for the agency.
Krishna’s boss, Jeev (Ashish Vidyarthi), informs her that there’s a mole in R&AW leaking information that led to Heena’s death. Krishna is assigned to uncover this traitor who’s selling India’s defense secrets. After investigating, they suspect R&AW employee Ravi (Ali Fazal) is the mole due to his lavish lifestyle. They also suspect his wife, Charu (Wamiqa Gabbi), of being his accomplice. They bug Ravi’s house, but it’s later revealed that Ravi is working for the CIA under pressure from his money-hungry mother, and Charu is innocent.
Meanwhile, it’s discovered that Heena’s death wasn’t solely due to Ravi leaking information to the CIA, which in turn was leaked to Mirza. The Central Minister of Home Affairs had to reveal the information to the CIA to protect a nuclear deal with the USA. This shocks Jeev and his Chief, but they keep it a secret to avoid further complications.
Ravi discovers the surveillance cameras and tries to escape with his mother, wife Charu, and their son. Charu, from a patriotic army family, refuses to leave and prevents them from taking her son. Ravi’s mother shoots Charu, but she survives with the help of KM’s team. Charu pleads with KM to help her retrieve her son and is trained for a mission to the USA.
Charu locates Ravi, his mother, and their son, infiltrating their family to get close. In the past, KM had developed feelings for Heena but distanced herself upon discovering Heena’s double-agent status. Heena’s mission to assassinate Mirza is compromised, leading to her death. In the present, Ravi’s family is given a chance to return to India as heroes if they eliminate Mirza. During Mirza’s visit to the USA, Ravi, Charu, and Ravi’s mother attempt to poison him, but he senses the plan, killing Ravi’s mother. Ravi knocks Mirza unconscious.
Together with KM, they set up Mirza’s death as an accidental head injury in a hotel bathroom. Ravi, Charu, and family are deported to India, starting anew. At Charu’s request, KM informs her estranged son about her being a lesbian, explaining the reason for her separation from his father.
